For the Art & History Lover:

  • Brandywine River Museum of Art (Chadds Ford, PA): (14 minute drive) Renowned for its collection of American art, particularly the works of the Wyeth family, including N.C., Andrew, and Jamie Wyeth, the museum is housed in a converted 19th-century mill overlooking the scenic Brandywine River. It offers an intimate setting to explore fine landscapes, portraits, and still lifes, while also highlighting regional and American art from the 19th and 20th centuries.
  • Square Pear Fine Art Gallery (Kennett Square, PA): (10 minute walk, 4 minute drive) Situated in the heart of Kennett Square, this local gallery offers a carefully curated selection of contemporary fine art, including paintings, sculptures, and mixed media works from both local and regional artists. With its rotating exhibitions and inviting atmosphere, the gallery provides a dynamic space for art lovers to explore and purchase a variety of creative expressions and styles.
  • Brandywine Battlefield (Chadds Ford, PA): (15 minute drive) One of the largest battles of the American Revolution, the Brandywine Battlefield offers history enthusiasts a chance to this site where General George Washington’s troops clashed with British forces in 1777. Visitors can tour the preserved landscapes, historic buildings, and interpretive exhibits that bring the pivotal battle to life to get a glimpse into the military strategies, hardships, and heroism of the Revolutionary War.
  • Self-Guided Tour of Local Artist Robert C. Jackson’s Artwork: (10 minute walk, 4 minute drive) Bob Jackson is one of the local artists whose work is highlighted at Artelo. Bob is a contemporary artist, known for his playful and vibrant still-life paintings that blend realism with whimsical narrative. His work often features everyday objects – like balloons, soda crates, and toys – arranged in imaginative and surprising compositions that evoke a sense of nostalgia and humor. Walk to his studio on 204 State Street in Kennett Square. While this is a working studio and not a gallery, you will be able to spot one or more of his works in the window and get a sense of his artistic vision before stopping by Square Pear Fine Art Gallery next door.
